Sanskrit literature is a big banyan tree and ancient epic Ramayana is
its roots. Veda , Brahman, anarya etc are central parts of this tree and
Mahabharta , Purana Philosophy(Darshana Shastra) are the main trunks of
it. Sanskrit literature is the first ancient literature of the world.
In the renaissance age in the history of civilization and culture it has
no parallel in research in Sanskrit literature in 18 Th centuries. In
1757 a decisive battle was fought at palaasi, which made the east India
Company the ruler of India. In 1783 AD a judge Sir William Jones was
posted in Bengal (Calcutta). He was the first person to propagate the
Sanskrit literature in the west. He established a branch oa "Asiatic
Society". In Calcutta in 1784 and published the English translation of
unique Sanskrit drama "Abhigyan Shakuntlam" by Kalidas. After this jones
translated'Manusimriti'in English. By that time Jones passed away.
After that Henry Thomas (1765-1837AD) carried forward his legacy. In
1806 he published a book 'On the Vedas' on the Vedic subject.
A few years after that the renowned German literature August Wilhelm
Von 'Schlegal' was appointed head of Sanskrit teaching. His brother
Friedrich Schlegel published his Sanskrit book 'Indian Language and
Science'(Bhartiya Bhasha and Vigyan) in 1808. in fact the credit for
writing a book of criticism on Ramayana goes to a German writer
professor Herman Jacobi who published his book Das Ramayana which
introduced the world and the German with Ramayana and Valmeki. In this
series the credit for incomplete of 'Valmeki Ramayana' goes to a
European writer R.T.Grifith.
THE CONTEMPORARY VALMEKI RAMAYANA: -
Shree Rama was born in the third era (Treta Yug) and the writing period
of 'Valmeki Ramayan'is also of that age. But after that interpolation
in the text of Ramayana have been continuing. That is why the famous
writer Chintamani Vinayak Vaidya was compelled to say that "the present
Valmeki Ramayana is not the Ramayana written by the ancient poet Valmeki
even though it has been accepted by the great thinker and linguist
'Katak 'in this very form. Like Mahabharta interpolatin have been
continuing in the Ramayana. In the beginning the story of Ramayana was
limited to the episode of abduction of sita wife of rama by ravana which
resulted in a battle between Rama and Ravana . in the next edition a
few teaching got added to it. By that time a pure historical epic took
the shape of a book preaching which was aimed at education the reads
about the social, ethical and religious duties and to lay down norms
form this purpose. By the time its third version came out this epic of
2005+300-2305 years earlier has become a store of legends.
ATHENTIC VERSIONS OF RAMAYANA: -
In different parts of India three different texts of Ramayana have become as below:-
1.Southern Text
(A) Gujrati Printing Press-Mumbai
(B) Madhavvilas Book Depot -Kumbakonam
2. Gaudily Text
(A)Text by renowned writer
Prof. Gaspara Gorresio-Paris
(B) Sanskrit series - Calcutta
3. North -Western Text
(A)D.A.V College- Lahore
On the basis of these three versions the Oriental Research Institute ,
Baroda has published a Critical Version also based on these texts a
mention of following Ancient Sanskrit Commentaries have also been found
:-
Ancient Sanskrit Commentaries :-
Other works of the great poet Valmeki:-
The great Poet Lord Valmeki wrote the following Twelve books but Ramayana is his most popular creation:-
Aksharlaksh the famous scholar Dr.V.A.K.Ayyar the Director of Bhartiya
vidya Bhavan Banglore has written after research that: - "The great poet
Valmeki has written his book 'Akshrlakshya'on Mathematics which is the
basis of the whole mathematics"
In his book Hindu Shastras and Sanskars page 19 he has mentioned that: -
The first that calls for mention in the encyclopedic shastra which goes
by the name 'Aksharlaksha'. The authorship of this science is
attributed to sage Valmeki. All kinds of mathematics including modern
geometry, algebra, trigonometry, physics or applied mathematics,
mineralogy, hydles, the method of measuring air, heat and even
electricity, geography etc are said to have been treated"
Most of the writer is of the view that sage Valmeki was not only a
linguist but he was also well conversant with the field of jyotish,
music, yoga and sanjeevni. Lord Valmeki was a seer and exponent of true
drama therefore he was called aseer of three ages- past, present,
future.
11. Sri Ramasamvada :-
The mention of all pervasive knowledge of lord Valmeki finds a proof
in his book Sri Ramsamvada. While translating this book into English
Shri Devinder Kamar MA has mentioned that "This ancient book is authored
by Lord Valmeki the writer of Ramayana. Its every Para contains
Ramasamvada written by Sri Valmeki .He further states that "Ramsamvada
is a miniature encyclopedia of the knowledge of the times it was
written. The author appears to be well versed in cosmology, biology,
embryology, physiology, sociology and metaphysics of this item"
Shri Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru Prime Minister of India has written about this book: - Sri Ramsamvada
"This book appears to be an important and interesting one."
On the publication of this book the
famous newspaper the tribune Chandigarh commented: "One of the strongest
books appearing lately on the literary horizon of contemporary India is
Sri Ramsamvada .the book is a complete thesis on Hindu politic, economy
and jurisprudence. This remarkable book is verily a masterpiece of
coherent thinking facile expression and originality of ideological
convictions."
After reading this book Shri
GVKetkar has written: - Had such a book been with the Hindus two
thousands years before India would never have been slave."
Shri M.R.Jyakar has written about
this book: - "Sri Ramasamvada its conniption of the life and moral
values is one. If I may say so I have always valued. I suggest its early
publication."
12.Yoga- Visista Maharamayana :-
The renowned writer PadamShri Dr. Bhikan Lal "Attray" in his book
"Yogvisista aur Upnishad"published by sarswati bhawan studies in 1933
writes :_ "After deep research it has been found that the shalokas of
all the 108 Upanishads or their major part is based on selected shalokas
from Yogvisista besides this out of 700 shalokas of Srimad Bhagvat Gita
263 are found in the Yogavisista MahaRamayana which shows that the main
teaching of gita are based on yogvisista which means it has been given
by Lord Valmeki. "
The meanings of Yogvisista Maharamayana :-
The literal meaning of the work Vyakaran is to split a word into
syllables and to use it as per rules of grammar as laid down by 'Panini'
which is the real touchstone of Sanskrit language. When the words are
written in scrip as per rules of grammar, first of all symbols is
designed for them as A for Apple. The pronunciation of letter A is
similar in thousand of languages but their scripts become different. The
shape of the script is the symbol of the letter and it is accepted that
this written symbol is to be pronounced in that particular way. The
meaning of a word does not depend on its reader for it the writer has
already fixed a meaning the same meaning is construed of that word. But
the fact of meaning does not depend on shape but on its sound. This is
the basic principle of grammar throughout the world .
If the words Yogavisista Maha Ramayana split then the Yoga +
Visista and Maha+Ramayana that means Yog is union or combination.
The existence of the whole
universe is not the subject matter of Mind and tongue as there was no
living being in the beginning of this universe the reason for this
creation is not known. The book containing teachings as regards the life
and emancipation (Nirvana) of the living being is called Philosophy.
According to Sage Yagyavalkya the
meeting of the creation an the creation and the creator is yog or union
This is the only sources of supreme Bliss the attainment of the light
of the creator :-
"Sansarottrne yuktiryashabdein kathyte"
(6/1-13-3)
Which means that the book which teaches the way of making the creation to meet the creator or guides for Nirvana is Yog:-
"Sanyogon yoga ityukto jivatm prmtmno"
For this the yog has been used in the name of this book.
Visista = special outstanding ;
Indian philosophy is flowing in many steams but the aim of all is only
achieving self relisatiois Nirvana; The book that guides the human
being in giving up all the wordly attachments and helps in self
realization is visista i.e. outstanding. Therefore this book is called
Visista. Therefore the word meaning outstanding union has been given to
this book.
Maha = reat wonderful :- Somebody may fee the path yoga hard one where
as for others the path of learning (Gyan)may be difficult but sage
Valmeki has said for the welfare of the human being that to practice
determination of learning (gyan nischay) is simpler. The knowledge of
this wonder is great or wonderful thing and the book which teaches the
essence of this principle is really great or wonderful. It means
Yogvisista Maharamayana is really a great and wonderful book.
Ramayana: - The word means "A book which explains the meaning of the real truth" The book is ramya meaning Ramayana;
"Adhikamsamvarn shrutimdivyamdrishti
Va prapye ramyamkavyamkritvant ityartha"
(Mantar - Ramayana)
It means that through his eternal
vision the sage Valmeki wrote Ramayan (beautiful) - this beautiful
book. Therefore it is established that:-
YogaVisista Maharamayana is correct name for this book. Numerous
writers have written research papers on YogaVisista of sage Valmeki of
these some prominent names are as below: -

(A) Dr. Bhikhan Lal Attry's works
1. Yogvisista and its philosophy
2. The philosophy of the Yogvisista

(G) Dr. T.G Minekar's. The Visista raw study
H) Dr.J.N.Boss's. Yogvisista Ramayana
(I)Dr.IrmaSchotsman Laghuyogavasistha selections.
In addition to the above-mentioned books a large number of books and
commentaries in different languages are also available. if the Indian
literature is tidied impartially then the scholars of the world will
find Yogvisista ma and Valmeki Ramayana to be wonderful book because
Valmeki ram provides guidance to he whole human society to lead a better
life and the yog ram guides the human society with spiritual knowledge
viz. to understand the spirit and the god to know the god and to
assimilate in the god. The literature written by the ancient poet, Lord
Valmeki is wonderful important effective unblemished eternal and

Now days the science is a super power. It is due to
the achievement of science that man has been able to see that part of
the moon, which the human eye had never seen. In this age both distance
and time have been squashed but the question is that where the science
achievements have stood?
What is the use of these achievements? These
achievements are like a double-edged sword. The effort of human being
should be to achieve new heights.
The fact is the science is a power without any fixed
policy. It gives power to the human being but it is not able to give
proper direction to him for its proper usage. This direction can be
given by Yogavisista Maharamayana the great book of spiritualism. Every
great soul has tried to fulfil this aim and will continue to do the same
so that a peaceful society is established because without peace nobody
can enjoy happiness which every human being desires but he is unable to
get the same without self realization it gives a feeling of completeness
to the human being.
Knowledge, Science and Philosophy are three facets
of the human being. All the three aim at unity in diversity, commonness
in separateness and newness in the old. The simple knowledge has
achieved this purpose by classifying the different items into groups.
The chemistry has divided all the physical elements into 105 types of
elements. According to physics research the whole universe is a
conglomeration of electrons.
Sage Kanaad's 'Vaisesika Philosophy' and' Nayaya
Philosophy' of sage Gautam describe that the world is composite of nine
elements i.e. earth, water, fire, air, sky, dike, time, mind, and
spirit. All the things in universe contain all these nine elements.
According to 'Samkha Philosophy' of Kapila there are only two elements
the nature and human being.
According to 'Advait Philosophy' of Lord Valmeki's
Yogavisista Maharamayana the whole universe is made of only one element
not of two many independent elements having separate power . All the
things in the universe are basically of this single element having
different names and shapes. Every thing is Absolute (Brahman - from the
root birth = to grow or expand).
"The entire universe is one substance, (namely) mere
consciousness as the ocean is (only) water. That alone throbs through
the (different) intellects as mere water through waves."

Tad abhinan sadei katm yetha kumbh sheteishu mrit ||
[YV.VI- A .49. 8]
Shri Nand Lal 'Dashora' on page 57 of his book 'The
Wonderful Powers of Mind (Man Ki Adbhut Shaktiyan) writes that the
modern science has also accepted the oneness of conscious power.
Arther Edington and Einstien also said that some
invisible power is working in the universe of which we do not know that
is. It controls the physical world and is many times more powerful than
the physical power.
I can say with confidence that in the whole nature and unlimited conscious power is in action.
Sir Olinker Lodge has said" this universe does not
seem to be the creation of any causal incident some organized system is
working is behind it. A mind and a conscious power is working behind it.
We can give any name to this power in our language, but that is the
spirit of the man.
Dr. Mordel has the opinion 'the smallest particles of
atom and element by their strange behavior show that some conscious
power is at work behind them due to which the power of the electrons and
neutrons can not be captured.
All the elements, which are visible in this universe,
are a part of the supreme element to understand these powers is the
foremost purpose of 'Yogavisista Maharamayana', which ends all the
differences and gives the feeling of the oneness of human beings. The
human being is a part of the universal family and the life of all is
'one', only one power is there which is controlling the entire universe.
Lord Valmeki is believer of oneness of the universe
(Advaitvada). This world is full of troubles, upheavals, symphony, hate,
love, attachment, sex, struggle etc. The man is caught in the whirlwind
of all this. He does not feel peace as well as bliss in his life. The
whole life goes in struggle and is reborn to through all these
difficulties again. He does not gain anything; this is what has been
destined for him. He has nothing beyond this in his life, which can
bring comfort and peace to him, and he does not have any knowledge about
it. It is due to the fact that he is covered under a curtain of
ignorance.
A false illusion is spread around him due to which he
unable to look through for truth and real knowledge. He takes this
false cover as truth and he lives the whole life in this darkness spread
around him. Oneness of reality is the real knowledge. This is the
knowledge of this entire universe. To understand this oneness he can
only depend on Brahman in its different shapes. The spirit in the body
is also a part of this conscious Brahman and in no way separate from it.
The inert looking nature has also the expense of Brahman in it and it
is its solid shape. This way this inert expense is also another shape of
the power of Brahman and both the conscious and inert parts belongs to
the same oneness, this is called knowledge and to take it as separate is
ignorance. The principle of oneness is eternal.
It means that the Adavait Philosophy as described by
Lord Valmeki who has given consolation to the world through his
teachings is a wonderful philosophy, which has come up due to this clash
of inert and conscious. This solves all the problems. This philosophy
of Yogavisista has given the principle of oneness in separateness to the
whole world.
Lord Valmeki an epitome of nonviolence, protector of
mother Sita, and Godfather of Lav-Kush ancient poet gave the world the
principle of universal brotherhood. This has given the world a
humanistic vision .His principle of oneness has wished well for the
entire universe.
In the present day world of technical progress where
there is a rat race for getting more power and having competition the
holocaust cannot be ruled out. In this era of competition and the
differences we should rise above from these petty considerations and
accept the concept of oneness. This religion of oneness will be the
world religion in future, in which those religions which breed
separatism will not exist otherwise the whole human race, will be
destroyed.
In the words of Osho' neither God nor any worship
will be left behind except faceless, quality less, boundless, timeless
and limitless! Only oneness will be their and no separateness.

The First Epic 'Valmiki Ramayana' is the first poetic
composition of this land. This is something of which the Indians can
rightly feel proud of because it is precious treasure of the country. It
is not only a book of poetry, but an encyclopedia of culture in which
religion; philosophy, politics and public dealings have been analyzed.
India is the only country which has been guiding the world in the fields
of religion and spiritualism. In India religion was so all pervading
that all the activities of the life like character, attitude, thinking
and reflection came within its parameter. Bhagwan Valmeki Ji set up a
number of ashrams for education in the different corners of the country
which were 'educational centres' in those days. He taught the people
about Ramayana through these centres. The unique tradition of his
education made spirit, body, thoughts and mind of the humanity, pure
healthy, clear and powerful. Bhagwan Valmeki Ji was the 'Chancellor' of
these ashrams. According to renowned commentator Neelkanth Ji, a person
who along with education feeds ten thousand students is called
'Chancellor'. His main ashrams were located in a thick forest near
'Tamsa' river. Goswami Tulsidas has sang praise for that ashram like
this:-
"Khag, mrig, vipul kolahal karheen, birhat baer mandit man charheen"
It means that the birds and animals were living
happily in the ashram of Bhagwan Valmeki Ji, leaving their natural
animosity. Tigers and deer, falcon and sparrow, mongoose and snake were
living together, leaving their traditional animosity.
The inspiration to work for the peace and prosperity
of humanity came to Bhagwan Valmeki Ji from an incident which occurred
when he was going to have a dip in the sacred 'Tamsa' river early in the
morning. This incident moved the heart of the great soul. He saw a paid
of cranes making love. At the same time an arrow came from nowhere and
pierced through the make crane and killed it. This incident moved the
heart of the great soul with such a strong sentiment that he uttered the
first words" anushtam chhand....maa nishad partishtan" on this earth.
The Great Poet, who felt the pain of the female crane in his own heart,
the ocean of compassion, The First Poet, to be revered in the morning,
who taught the traditions of the whole world, the messenger of religion,
worshipped by the rich and poor one and all, the writer of Ramayana is
the source of our culture. He is a see revered poet. The creative
writers of different ages have adopted his great works as the basis of
their creations. It is difficult to fine an equal to the same in any
language of the world. This is strange that Bhagwan Valmeki Ji has
himself written in the Ramayana "This epic will work as basis for the
poets of future." In the 8th century Muari wrote about Ramayana". It is
true that a number of earlier poets have used The Ancient Epic Ramayna
as a basis for their dramas, but they cannot leave it because it is
difficult for them to find such an ideal character." He wrote
further-"The First poet produced a treasure all the traders of poetry.
Raja Bhoj in the beginning of his 'Champuramayana'
has written "If even today the people take a little water from the
sacred Ganga brought by some Bhagirtha after a very hard meditation, to
satiate the thirst of their forefathers, why I cannot take a little of a
poetic Ganga, brought by the First Poet Mahrishi Valmeki Ji in the
ancient times and used that for the happiness and enjoyment of the
humanity".
The Grate Poet Kalidas has also respectfully
addressed Bhagwan Valmeki Ji (in the 4th century A.D.) as 'The First
Poet. Mahakavi Bhavbhooti said in his dram 'Uttar Ramayana' (8th century
A.D.): "The story of Valmeki Ramayana sanctifies after removing the
sins and adds to the welfare. Like the Ganga of this world it brings
betterment and is lovable. The poets should study the poetry of
Omniscient Valmeki Ji, which has been given the form of a drama and
projected through acting."
Acharya Sharagdhar, describing his benevolence, says:
'In the poets having the status of Inder, I may my respects to the
First Poet Valmeki Ji, whose creation Ramayana gives happiness to the
saint as the moonlight gives the pleasure to 'chokoris' (red flagged
partridge)." Simiarly Acharya Kshamander in the introduction of his book
'Ramayana Manjri'(10th century AD) writes in the praise of Bhagwan
Valmeki Ji: "Praise be to the First Poet whose glory is equal to the
creator in the world, who has composed the Epic Ramayana, which touches
the hearts of all the people. I bow my head to Bhagwan Valmeki Ji, who
created the supreme composition Ramayna, whose brightness like moon has
glorified all the three worlds." The annotator, Ramanuj has paid his
tribute to mahrishi Valemki Ji in these words : "aroohyea kavitshakhan
vandre Valmeki Kokilam" (I pay my respects to cuckoo bird like Valmeki
Ji)
.
Dr. Shanti Kumar Nanu Ram Vyas writes: "By describing
the living traditions, ideals, worries, aspirations and sentiments of
an ancient era, the Valmeki Ramayana is a precious treasure of the
Indian Civilisation and Culture. It can be compared to a mountain from
the summit of which we can have a glance of the social, economic,
political, and religious and art activities simultaneously. The Epic of
The First Poet, Valmeki Ji depicts the undecided facts of the
contemporary Indian society so vividly which has no match in any other
source. Mahrishi Valmeki Ji is the creator of the national ideals. The
seeds of a great eternal culture, civilization, religion and truth, sown
by him are flourishing like giant trees even today."
In an issue of 'Dinmaan' weekly it has been written'
"if Indepdent India continues to give importance to human religion, as
inspired by Valmeki Ramayana, her future will be bright." Seeing this
impact the saying of A.A. Mc Donnel seems to be fully true: "No Product
of Sanskrit Literature has enjoyed a greater popularity down to the
present day the Ramayana."
M. Vinternitz in his book 'Valmeki Ramayana' writes the praise like this
"As perhaps no other Poem in the entire World
Literature has influenced the whole thinking
and writing of the folk through all the centuries."
He writes further:
"As long as the mountains stand"
And C.V. Vaidya has acknowledged this fact that he is the author of 'Valmeki Ramayana.
Shri Lakshmi Dhar has described Mahrishi Valmeki ji as the author of 'Prakrit Sutras' in 'Shat Bhasha Chandrika.
Dr. V.A.K. Ayyer, the famous scholar and the Director of
Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, Bangalore has said: "Valmeki Ji has written a
book on 'akshar lakshya which is the basis of whole mathematic. He has
written in his book 'Hindu Shastra and Sanskar' at page 19:
"The first that calls for mention is the Encyclopedic
Shastra, which goes by the name of Aksharlakksha.
The authorship of this science is
attributed to Sage Valmeki.
All kinds of mathematics including modern geometry,
algebra, trigonometry,
physics or applied mathematics;
mineralogy, hydels;
the method of measuring air,
heat and even electricity;
geography etc. are said to have been treated."
Majority
of the scholars are of the view that besides being a linguistic expert
he had the knowledge of jyotish, music and medicines. He was a
forecaster as well as a dramatist. Therefore he is called the
omniscient. The First Poet Bhagwan Valmeki was apt in how many fields,
this question is answered in his book 'Ram Samvad' while translating
this book in English, Shri Devinder kamal, M.A. has written in its
preface: This ancient book is authored by Mahrishi Valmeki Ji. In its
every 'Sarga' is written it Sri Valmiki Vichitei Sri Ram Samvad'. He
writes that 'Sri Ram Samvad' is a small encyclopedia of world science
which was written at that time. It seems that its author had the
knowledge of universe, pregnancy and fetus, psychology, spiritualism and
sociology.
Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, after reading this book had remarked :
"This book appears to be
an important and interesting one".
On the publication of this book, the famous newspaper
The Tribune had commented: "One of the strangest books appearing lately
on the literary horizon of contemporary India is Shri Ram Samvad. This
book is a complete thesis on Hindu politics, economy &
jurisprudence. This remarkable book is verily a masterpiece of coherent
thinking, facile expression and originality of ideological convictions."
Thus after studying 'The First Epic Valemki
Ramayana', 'Yogavashishth', 'Aksharlaksha', 'Sri Ram Samvad' etc. books,
we come know about the great scholarly status of Bhagwan Valmeki Ji. On
research we come to know about his personality, his capabilities, and
his qualities. Bhagwan Valemki ji is a great saint, supreme yogi,
topmost poet, commentator and founder of the contemporary social
traditions and pillar of truth and justice.
Bharat Rattan Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar had said once,
"It is a tragedy of the Hindi speaking belt that
it has put Tulsidas on the throne
after ignoring Valmeki Ji.
The As long as the rivers are on the earth,
So long will in this World,
The Song of Ramayana continues to live."
Similarly Shri Anmath Nath Dutt, M.A. has written:
"No other literary work, except The Bible,
has such universa
impact as the Ramayana has.
There is no doubt that the
Great Epic 'Valmeki Ramayana' is like
the koh-i-noor diamond in the literary field".
The other creation of Bhagwan Valmeki is 'Yoga
Vashishth'. In its praise, the great scholar of India, Swami Ram Tirtha
Pramahans had said in America had referred to Yoga Vashishth' while
talking about the Ancient Indian Spiritualism:
"One of the Greatest Book and the most wonderful
according to me, ever written
under the sun is 'Yogavashishth'
( in the words of God realization, Delhi edition, Vol, III, page 295).
It is impossible that a person who studies this book he may not have the feeling of knowledge and oneness with all.
Dr. Bhikhan Lal Attrey, in his book 'Yog Vashishth and its Principles 'writes at page 28:
"This book is one of the supreme
works of Indian Literature.
It is full of precious gems, the
more on delves deeper
in this ocean, the more valuable
things he finds in it.
The ore on goes deeper the lesser it is."
This is written by Mahrishi Valmeki Ji, the creator
of Ramayana. Mr. T.G. Manket writes in his book. The Vashishth
Ramayana-A study': The First Poet Mahrishi Valmeki is the author of
Yogavashishth. Acharya Kedar Nath Tripathi writes in his book on
Yogavashishth that the author of this book is Bhagwan Valmeki Ji.
Pt. Janki Nath Verma writes in his article; 'Eminence
and propriety of Yogavashishth', There is no book which can match
Yogavashishth. This book is supreme not only in Indian Literature but
the writings throughout the world from the angle of find knowledge,
analysis and logical angle, its writer, whomsoever he may be is either
God or he has achieved godly level. The accept it as the work of Bhagwan
Valmeki Ji is justified.
If the falsehood comes to an end on this earth and
the truth becomes prevalent, the humanity can get rid of pain and
worries and one can attain the purpose of ones life. 'Valmeki Darshan'
is such a study of which shed the dark clouds of ignorance engulfing the
heart and mind of the. In fact in the present age if any book has the
power to take the humanity off from the path f death and destruction to
lead to the path off life, the only book capable of doing this is
'Yogvashishth Maha Ramayan'.
Shri Rai Bahadur in one of his articles in the praise of 'Prakrit' says;
"As Gargya, Galv, Shaklya and Panini
etc are the master of Sanskrit, similarly Mahrishi
Valmeki ji is the maser
of 'Prakrit Ramayana'. He had also authored
'Prakrit Ramayan.
"In the Vedic Literature there is a reference of
'Vyakaran Valmeki people
of this belt will remain backward
till they do not replace Tulsidas by Valmeki Ji".
The compositions of Bhagwan Valmeki Ji give right
direction to the humanity. Food grains and wealth are unduly wasted on
account of unseen gods and false and blind followings and rituals.
'viklavo veeriya heeno ya : sdaiv manuvatate"
Only cowards and incapable persons depend upon fate.
The strong persons never worship destiny. 'ashtapitre devtye nityayen
prasritojan: Those who believe that the donation of food given at
'shradha' goes to the forefathers, they only waste the food. Can a dead
person eat the food. 'pitruhi samtikant putro ya sadh manyte: The books
and persons preaching for the traditions like performing of yagyas, to
do prayers and worship, to give alms and to become ascetic by leaving
ones family just to please the gods are the creations of clever people
are for furtherance of traditions of alms and charity in the people. 'sa
naste parminyatat karu budhi mahamate' : There is this world only, no
other world is there. Therefore take care of what is present, forget
about the next world or what is not there'.'ye samudyog mrityujy sthita
daiv prayana' : Those people who do not make effort and leave everything
on the gods, they are wasting their religion, wealth, energy and
deliverance-all the four capacities. Those lazy persons are their own
enemies. By ignoring their existing gods, to whom they can serve-their
mother, father and teacher, how the worship of the invisible gods can be
logical. There is no other god on this earth who can equal the parents
and the teacher, because by serving them one can gain religion, wealth
and energy.
This story of Epic Ramayana is preaching the lesson
of human welfare to the whole humanity throughout the world. This Epic
is like that huge Banyan tree, which has grown to an enormous scale by
piercing the crust of this earth and is standing loftily to provide
shelter to the humanity. The readers and the poets even today not only
enjoy the depths of sweetness of the poetry of the First Poet, Bhagwan
Valmeki Ji, they are also moved in their hearts by the eternal song. The
entire poetic world agrees with one word that this Epic has established
an ideal for the whole humanity. This is the road on which we can lead
the humanity on the path of peace. The first Poet, Bhagwan Valmeki ji,
through his creations has laid the high road of welfare for the whole
human race.
